Punk icon news story on EL App

Though the ripple effect of the anarchic culture of the late 1970s never really seemed to dissipate, fashion has decreed that punk is officially back.

The organic intention of punk was counter-cultural, and its aesthetic founded in anti-fashion. Those who were present and active in its inception are understandably giving the cold shoulder to this contemporary ratification of the chaotic artistic movement as an on-trend style. However across the runways for FW13 there were still plenty of the studs, zips, spikes, deconstructed fabrics and hairstyles with attitude that are now fairly common place as captured in many a street-style image and seen backstage as a default off-duty model uniform. Frayed denim, biker boots, the imperfect ponytail- these hieroglyphs are still the elements that are deemed to add ‘edge’ to an ensemble and enable the wearer to stand out from the crowd.

Punk is about daring to be different. If Punk is back, its timing couldn’t be better.

Sunday 11th of November 2012 – Essential Looks Spring/Summer 2013 photo shoot

Hello and welcome to the EL Blog.

The EL team are bright and breezy after their day off yesterday and cannot wait to get started again today and what a day we have in store.

Cherinne, our beautiful French model has without doubt a certain “Je ne sais quoi” quality that fits perfectly to her trend story, GLAM CHIC whilst our second model Franziske just exudes the feeling needed for her trend story, MONO MODS.

Both girls have stunning haircuts and colours and we are really beginning to see the entire collection coming together now and please keep this a secret but we all feel that this collection is going to look F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C !!!!

The Spring/Summer Essential Looks collection will be entitled Colour Buzz, when you see the collection in it’s entirety, you will understand why.

Friday 9th of November 2012 – Essential Looks Spring/Summer photo shoot

The team are so happy with how the entire collection is coming together. Tomorrow is a day off for the team but we will be back bright and breezy on Sunday morning to start the last few days of the shoot.

Sunday 4th of November 2012 – Essential Looks Spring/Summer 2013 photo shoot

Today the looks begin to unfold as the collection comes to life, the trends which have inspired us directly from the International fashion weeks of New York, London, Milan and Paris will be passionately crafted into being over the coming days.

Today we start with 2 models from our White Angles trend. Japanese origami angles and kimono lines influenced so many designers for their Spring/Summer collections where we saw a profusion of beautiful structured white outfits being showcased across all 4 fashion weeks.

The haircuts are strong, graphic shapes with stunning reds, breathtaking violets and smouldering coppers dominating the hair colour direction for this trend.

Aline is our White Angle Catwalk directional model whilst Pan Yan, is the long hair Salon variation look.

We have Kees, Alex Onno and Bart filming lots of footage this week not only for our EL Mood film but also for our EL launch event taking place in Berlin on Sunday March the 3rd 2013. It will be amazing !!!

So, a great start to the collection shoot, follow us tomorrow as we reveal more…..Essential Looks.

Friday 2nd of of November 2012 – Essential Looks Spring / Summer 2013 photo shoot

Day 5 already, the final A2Z step by step day and on this final day we have our models Kat, Pan-Yan and Jessie and just as yesterday, the models are from three different trend stories with colours and cuts following different directions.

We hope you have enjoyed the past few days, there will be no EL Blog posted tomorrow as the team have a day off as we prepare for the full light set up for the main EL collection shoot starting on Sunday…..16 models, 4 trend stories all contained in 1 inspirational fashion forward salon friendly collection……we are Schwarzkopf Professional and you have been watching……Essential Looks.

Thursday 1st of November 2012 – Essential Looks Spring / Summer 2013 photo shoot

Brrrrrr….we might be shooting the Spring/Summer collection but here in Hamburg Winter has arrived early with only 3 degrees outside however, whilst it may be cold outside inside the studio things are hotting up.

On day 4 of the A2Z step by step shoot we have models Aline, Tanya and Cherelle all of which are from three different trend stories so the haircuts and colours will reflect their respective trends.

Lesley will be making a bright and bold colour statement on Aline. On Cherelle, brown shades and tones will be used throughout her hair to create understated feminine glamour whilst on our final model Tanya, the colours will be from the Natural and Gold tones to create a shimmering effect.

Wednesday 31st October 2012 – Essential Looks Spring/Summer 2013 photo shoot

Whoooooooooooo !!!! It may be Halloween but there is nothing scary going on in the EL studio.

What a BRILLIANT day.

We are right in the groove now and with our 3 models Ani, Anna and April (or the 3 A’s as we like to call them) in the studio today both Lesley and Tyler have pumped up their creative talents producing stunning haircuts and breathtaking colours.

This collection is turning into what l can only describe as classic Essential Looks work, stylish, fashion forward and totally hairdresser driven.

We are on a roll, enjoy the pictures, stay tuned for more EL magic tomorrow.

Tuesday 30th October 2012 – Essential Looks Spring / Summer 2013 photo shoot.

Welcome to day 2 of the shoot. Today sees us continue with our A2Z step by step preparation with 2 long hair models, Lucette and Su Shien.

Lucette will have colours which are predominately brown tones, we want the overall look to express luxury and exude glamour whilst Su Shien from a different trend story will have colours which are totally in keeping with her skin tone using a colour technique which is easy to achieve in the salon yet still delivers an individual commercial saalon client look.

You will have to wait a little longer before we reveal the actual trend names (you know we don’t like to give too much away at this stage in the shoot!)

The atmosphere in the studio is great with everyone focused on creating great looks.

Monday 29th October 2012 – Essential Looks Spring / Summer 2013 photo shoot.

Hello and a very warm welcome to the Essential Looks blog.

The Spring / Summer fashion weeks for 2013 ended in Paris a few weeks ago, we cross referenced the four key trends emerging from the catwalks of New York, London, Milan and Paris and are now ready to shoot our 16 models for the forthcoming edition of Essential Looks.

The shoot is taking place in Hamburg at the wonderful Briese Studios and the entire EL team are so excited about the days ahead and the looks we are going to create.

As always we start our shoot with a week of A2Z step by step filming, showing and sharing our ideas on new haircutting and colouring direction for the coming season, looks which will excite hairdresser’s and which salon clients will love to wear.

We start our first day with with our 2 models Franziska and Cherinne and both Lesley and Tyler cannot wait to begin………..watch the journey unfold each day as we post our updates……

EL Shoot 02.04.12

Hello and welcome once again EL Fans and Followers,

Well, yesterday saw the end of the EL 2012:2 Shoot and another day jam packed with exciting models and exciting looks; especially one that we’ve not featured in the blog so far…

This ‘darker’ look promises to be one of the really huge directional trends to come from the catwalks this season, and as always, we’re bringing it to you first here at Schwarzkopf Professional’s Essential Looks.

We believe that one of the fascinating elements of this look is the carapace’esq colour quality of the hair. In the attached photos you can see exactly what we mean; with shimmers of blues, radiating through the almost jet black models hair.

On a side note, remember our beautiful asian model, Gwen, and our stunningly tall, beautiful model, Jessica, both these young ladies promise to be huge catwalk sensations in years to come. Remember that you saw her here first…

However, these will not be the only firsts this coming season. Now, hopefully you all know us well enough by now to know that we’re not in the habit of giving too much away, however, we can tell you that this season, there are going to be a lot of new and exciting developments happening with Essential Looks and if you want to know more, you’ll need to stay tuned in…

So, we’ll say goodbye for now…

Only joking, we wouldn’t leave without giving you the information we know you’ve been so desperate to learn…

This season, we would like to introduce:

Eccentric Heritage –
Need we say more. Classic Tweeds and Country Styling with a contemporary twist. Very feminine and perfect for longer hair.

60′s Twist –
Representing the ever-popular Retro corner, this look has been growing for a little while and now at a point of perfection; Cool, Young and versatile.

Oriental Express –
A look we first hinted at on the Hong Kong Catwalks two season’s ago; now embraced the world across. East meets West with classic motifs, prints and fabrics.

Neo Couture –
As featured today, a look with touches of previous directions including Dark Angels, Tom Boys, Road Warriors, Punk Goddesses and Dark Amazons. Black is Back.
