The Lady.

Say Hello to our next Schwarzkopf Professional Ambassador we want to introduce you: the lovely Lesley Lawson. She began her career in 1984 at a prestigious London hair academy, and spent 18 years travelling the globe working on shows, seminars and advertising. Lesley then joined the fabulous Real salon, where she tends to a high-profile clientele that includes Gwyneth Paltrow or Elle Macpherson. Lesley who is very well-dressed herself has also worked on fashion shows for the likes of John Richmond, Raf Simons, and Alexander McQueen.

Lesley has a love for the entire hair profession but her absolute passion is colour because she believes all hair can look even more amazing with the addition of colour. She says: “When you understand skin tones and the colour wheel it’s so satisfying to be able to make people look and feel more gorgeous which is such a great feeling.”

When asking Lesley how she made her way to Essential Looks, she goes back to the past:
“I knew the inspiring Tyler and Simon Ellis from working at Vidal Sassoon when I was asked over to Hamburg for a meeting to discuss the relaunch of “Vibrance” seven years ago. From there I was invited to work on my first Essential Looks – and the rest as they say is history!” A pretty history, and very inspiring – especially if you know how often Lesley does colour her hair: “It grows so fast that I colour my hair every 3 weeks – most of the time I find myself more often than not in a hotel bathroom gloves on and applying the colour myself since I am away a lot.”

If you want to ask Lesley about colouring feel free to post a comment!

We do not only want to show you the creative work we’re doing in terms of the new EL collection but for those of you that are new to the EL Blog, we also want to introduce you the people who make this happen. So please meet Tyler Johnston, our Essential Looks Global Ambassodor. He’s one of the hairdressing industry’s most sought-after session stylists for many reasons, and we’re sure you’ve seen some of his work before. Especially, if you’re someone who either likes to scroll through lifestyle magazines or likes to watch soccer!

Now you’re wondering? Of course, we can explain! Tyler’s been doing the hair styles for lots of female celebrities, including Lilly Allen, Keira Knightly, Cate Blanchet and little blogger fellow Tavi (“Style Rookie”) for several years now and therefore is featured in magazines like VOGUE, Vanity Fair, Pop or i-D. But one of his most popular hair cuts was made for a man, David Beckham. For him, Tyler invented the infamous “Beckham Mohican” of 2001 and is still working with David and his wife Victoria, a style icon herself.

Tyler, who started his career at Vidal Sasson in the creative hotbed of Eighties Manchester and worked as an Art Director at the prestigious Knightsbridge salon, started to work for Essential Looks about 8 years ago. It was Simon Ellis who brought him in as session hair dresser. Tyler says he’s enjoying working for Schwarzkopf Professional very much because he believes in the company’s direction and has – within his engagement – every freedom to create his adventurous ideas. Inspiratons for his ideas Tyler is getting from the streets and his travels.

The biggest compliment is for Tyler when he sees how salons worldwide recreate his looks in their own way. As Tyler doesn’t want to dictate something but instead encourage hairdressers to do their own interpretation. At our actual shoot, Tyler is one more time working together very closely with Steve Hogan (EL Creative Director). Both guys push each creativly to try to inspire hairdressers all over the world.

Please find more information about Tyler on his website.

In case you got any questions for Tyler, you now have the chance to leave a comment which will be answered by him.
